Ayıkla pirincin taşını
Meaning: Deal with it yourself; it's your mess.
Literally: Pick the stones out of the rice
Example: “Herkesle kavga ettin, şimdi ayıkla pirincin taşını.” — You fought with everyone; you've made your bed, now lie in it.
English equivalent: You've made your bed, now lie in it
Origin: A popular but unverified legend ties the phrase to the Ottoman conquest of Yemen under Sultan Selim I and the later general Sinan Pasha's long, difficult campaign putting down a subsequent rebellion there — though no reliable historical source actually confirms this specific story, and it's better understood as a colorful tale that attached itself to the idiom after the fact rather than genuine history. The far plainer and better-supported origin is simply a real, tedious kitchen chore: rice in traditional households had to be carefully picked over by hand before cooking to remove small stones and other debris mixed in with the grains, a fiddly, patience-testing task where a single overlooked stone could ruin an entire dish, or at minimum a diner's tooth. That genuinely thankless, detail-heavy household task gave the phrase its lasting image for any complicated, messy situation someone else has to sort through piece by piece.
