“Out of the woods”in other languages
Out of danger at last.

French
Same idea, different pictures
English comes out of a dark and dangerous forest. Czech has crossed the river: je to za vodou, it's past the water, where the danger can't follow.
French is the odd one, because it's only used in the negative: on n'est pas sorti de l'auberge, we're not out of the inn yet, means we're not out of the woods yet. One explanation is that auberge was old slang for prison.
