Same idea, different pictures
Three of the four are about cooking. English a fine kettle of fish probably comes from Scottish riverside picnics, where fresh salmon was boiled in a kettle; a messy, lively affair. German says there we have the salad, da haben wir den Salat.
Swedish and Afrikaans say the food is now done and can't be undone. Swedish: nu är det kokta fläsket stekt, now the boiled pork is fried. Afrikaans: nou is die gort gaar, now the barley is cooked.
