Origin: English proverb attributed to Thomas Fuller in A Pisgah-Sight of Palestine (1650).

  • French: C'est à l'heure la plus sombre qu'apparaît l'aube (literally: It is at the darkest hour that dawn appears)
  • Spanish: La hora más oscura es justo antes del amanecer (literally: The darkest hour is just before dawn)
  • Japanese: 夜明け前が最も暗い (Yoake mae ga mottomo kurai) (literally: Just before dawn is the darkest)
