Origin: Faxen are pranks and silly antics, from dialect Fickesfackes (foolish jokes, nonsense) or possibly the old verb fatzen, to mock, as in Fatzke (a fop). Having them dicke (thick) is having had more than enough. German Wiktionary suggests the dicke may come from the swelling of the neck veins in anger, but that is only a guess.
