English and French share the Greek story. After ten years of siege, the Greeks left a huge wooden horse outside Troy with soldiers hidden inside; the Trojans pulled it into the city themselves. Today it also names computer programs that hide malware.
Vietnamese tells the same lesson without the myth: cõng rắn cắn gà nhà, to carry a snake home on your back so it can bite your own chickens. Here the emphasis is on bringing in an outsider who then turns on your people.
