German has a pig, Schwein haben; a popular story says the last-place finisher at medieval contests went home with a pig as a consolation prize. Czech has the door handle, mít kliku, since klika means both “handle” and “luck”.
English also leads a charmed life, a line from Shakespeare's Macbeth, who boasts that no man born of woman can harm him.
