“A road to Damascus moment”in other languages
A sudden change of mind that turns someone's views around.
English
French
German
Same idea, different pictures
All three come from the same story in the Acts of the Apostles. On the road to Damascus, Saul, who persecuted Christians, was struck blind by a light from heaven and became the apostle Paul.
English speaks of a moment, French of finding your road, trouver son chemin de Damas, and German of living through your own Damascus. The stress is always on how sudden it is: nobody reaches this kind of change by slow argument.
